"NATO Must Recognize Ukraine as De Facto Member, Urges President Zelenskyy"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has insisted that the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania should acknowledge Ukraine as a de facto member of the alliance, given their shared values and weaponry.
Despite the ongoing debate among NATO members over the kind and amount of arms to provide Kyiv in its conflict with Russia, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that additional arms support is imminent.
However, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that a formal invitation for membership will not be issued while the conflict persists, reflecting the division among allies over the pace of Ukraine's admission post-conflict.
Finland's Foreign Minister affirmed the alliance's commitment to Ukraine's future NATO membership once the conflict ceases.
